I am beyond thrilled and deeply honored to share some incredible news: my song "404: Lost in Neon" was awarded Best World Music at the Hollywood Independent Music Awards (HIMA), hosted at the iconic Avalon in Hollywood on July 30, 2026!
Standing alongside 16 exceptionally talented nominees from across the globe, hearing our track announced was a moment of pure surprise and overwhelming gratitude.

Bringing Traditional Chinese Guzheng to Life
This achievement doesn't belong to Annie Zhou alone. It would not have been possible without the incredible creative team behind the piece: a massive thank you to Leo Anthony for his brilliant production work, and to Kristopher Carter for bringing out the absolute best in the track through his mixing and mastering.
Competing in a category as rich and dynamic as World Music is always an inspiring journey. Many of the nominated entries featured powerful vocal performances, which naturally connect with audiences on a direct, personal level. Performing an instrumental piece centered around the Guzheng—a traditional 21-string Chinese instrument—can sometimes feel like an uphill battle when paired against vocal-driven tracks.
That is why this recognition for "404: Lost in Neon" means the absolute world to us. It is proof that music truly transcends language, lyrics, and borders.
